1 practice per week (Monday or Wednesday evenings)

Tryout Jersey, Game Jerseys, and socks included

2 Tournaments (currently anticipating May 28 – 31 in Philly and June 4-5 or 11-13 weekends in Hershey)

Teams at 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and Girls

The Loudoun Castles are the first step on the Ion Road development path. Our players learn the basic skills, habits, and fundamentals of the game in a fun and competitive environment.

All Learn to Play players must register with USA Hockey, and submit a valid USA Hockey registration number as part of the Ion registration process. USA Hockey provides insurance coverage, access to special USA Hockey events, and a subscription to USA Hockey magazine. Click below to register.

Required Equipment

All Learn to Play classes require players to bring their own equipment including the following items:

  • H.E.C.C. certified hockey helmet with full face mask and chin strap
  • Ice hockey gloves
  • Elbow pads
  • Shoulder pads
  • Shin guards
  • Ice hockey pants
  • Hockey skates
  • Hockey stick
  • Mouth guard
  • Neck guards (recommended)
